Crandart

Angus & Dundee: About 5 miles east and south of Spittal of Glenshee, on minor roads north of B951, west of River Isla, Glen Isla, at Crandart.

Ruin or site   NO 188675   OS: 43   PH11 8QW

Site of castle, which was replaced by a farm that was built from the remains of the old castle.
The lands were held by the MacCombies (also see Forter Castle), and there is a date stone (now at Airlie) with 1660 with the initials I M EC. The clan got into a feud with the Ogilvies, and they were ruined and had to sell the lands at the end of the 17th century.
